Places to Visit

Casa Taverni is situated in the territory of Subbiano, whose center is 20 minutes away by car. The village develops along the banks of the river Arno and is characterized by little squares and hidden places all to be discovered ( In the center of Subbiano, you can visit the museum of the association “Quelli del Karin”, where you can admire many relics of the Second World War, found on the Catenaia Alps, very near to Casa Taverni (

Falciano is a small district of the Catenaia Alps, whose inhabitants are called Catenaioli. Here, in Mulino, you can visit the perfectly maintained and still working stone mills, which nowadays are mainly used for milling chestnuts.

I In this area you can visit towns like Arezzo, which has a very rich history but also many entertainments (e.g., the Saracen Joust and the Antiquary Fair which takes place every first weekend of the month) ( If you move to Valtiberina, you will find Anghiari, one of the most beautiful villages of Italy, MonterchiSansepolcro and Caprese Michelangelo. 

From Subbiano, which is the first village you encounter when entering the Casentino area, you can easily proceed towards the Alto Casentino to discover villages like Poppi characterized by the Castle of the Counts Guidi, StiaBibbiena, and the Camaldoli Monastery. A very interesting place is the Santuario della Verna, where Saint Francis took shelter in 1224. The Sanctuary may be reached even on foot starting from Casa Taverni, walking along Pathway n. 50.

The National Park of the Foreste Casentinesi Monte Falterona and Campigna also deserves to be visited. You will have to reach the site by car and then go on walking through the many pathways of the park.

Valdichiana is very near to the Catenaia Alps: here you can visit villages like Cortona, of Etruscan origins, Monte San SavinoCastiglion Fiorentino and Lucignano, a medieval village.

In addition, Florence, the art town par excellence, Siena and Perugia, can all be reached in a little more than one hour by car.
